Alright, so trying is a bit of a stretch but I'm making... uh... somewhat of an effort. Obviously I mean this strictly for my knee only. Ughl- being patient waiting for a sandwich is something I may never overcome I don't care who I'm sharing the sandwich with! (cough... Chris Long)
Today was exactly THREE weeks since my knee surgery. Of course I'm still swollen, still staying with my parents, and still complaining about not being mobile. But... today when I went to physical therapy I was told that my restrictions are gone, and I can start to put weight on my surgical leg. Oh what a relief that was.
Now, the people that know me will laugh and say, "classic Kath" because this totally was- I figured that meant no more crutches. Not the case. I didn't think far enough to figure that no weight on my leg for 3 weeks would be weird but it totally is. I think the best way to describe it is wobbly. I know what you're thinking... that I'm wobbly (aka clumsy) as it is, but this is a different kind :)
I started to do some stuff on the bike (whoa) and I'm getting used to putting full weight on my left leg. Apparently you have to be able to do squats before the crutches are gone completely, so I'm still walking around in my brace (yeah, I'm starting to think that will never leave my leg) with crutches and my brace being locked.
SIGH
I have a VERY long way to go, but I'm better than I was yesterday. My knee still grosses me out, but at least it looks like I have a knee. Progress.
Pieces,
Kath
