I recently invented the ego boosting- get in touch with your sensitive side game called “Why I Heart You”. What’s great about that game is that you can play it via text message. I like to call them texterations. You know, it’s a conversation but through texting. Yeah, it’s like that…
This “Why I Heart You” game can get a little dull. It’s usually good for maybe 10 rounds and depending on the kind of friendship or relationship you have with the person you’re playing with, it’s even better when you start to get sarcastic.
During a texteration version of the game, the person I was playing with said, “I heart you because you have never gone camping.” I of course start laughing because it is absolutely true. All of a sudden , “Why I Heart You” is over, and we are now talking about the things this person and I have never done.
Trust me, there are plenty of things I haven’t done, haven’t seen, and certainly haven’t accomplished. But, these are the ones that started some serious conversations regarding how well this person knows me.
-I have never gone camping. We’re talking honest to goodness camping. I fell asleep on a beach once, but we woke up before dawn, and there wasn’t a tent or anything.
-I have never gone bobbing for apples. I’ve never been to a function where this was taking place so… not my fault. I was told that it’s because I was born in California. I still don’t know what that means.
-I have never been to a PROFESSIONAL football game. This one always generates gasps but it’s true. I’ve been to countless high school games, and many college football games, but never a professional one.
-I have never been gambling at a casino. I’ve bet on games- come on, who wouldn’t with my sports knowledge? J I went to Vegas with my family when I was 16 and obviously never gambled then, and since I turned the legal age… I guess I just haven’t gotten around to it. (I feel like that sounds like a question)
-I have never baked bread. I know, for someone who loves to cook meals and bake anything… I’ve never made bread. I don’t know why, and I don’t know if I will.
-I have never been on a train. I’m talking like a choo choo train. CalTrain does not count. Oh, and when I was discussing whether or not CalTrain counted or not… I said, “I mean like a train that takes you to your destination.” Mmmhmm- as oppose to other trains that don’t. The things that I say… Yeesh.
-I have never seen a Broadway show. Yes, I went to NYC. I saw the 2 stadiums I went to see… I saw the Yankees beat the A’s and the Phillies beat the Mets. I did not go see a Broadway show. I’m saving that for next time.
-I have never eaten a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Those who know me know why- I’m allergic. I was never that kid sitting a bench eating a sandwich. That’s actually not strange for me because I had a hard time sitting down when I was a kid.
-I have never won the game of Life. True story- I always end up with at least 4 kids and my husband disappears and I lose my job and if it’s possible… I’m sure I’ve died at some point. Ughl. I really hate that game. (But I own it)
