So I'm still on the DL (That's disabled list for those of you not in the loop. Cough...Dena...cough. JK! Dena isn't out of the loop, and I'm not really an athlete so I'm not on the dl) recovering from surgery. I'm using the word recovering loosely because you can actually see that I have a knee, it doesn't look all gross and it doesn't have blue stitches coming out of it. But I'm still staying with my parents because I just haven't gone home yet. My visitors like seeing my parents and I don't have to get up to answer the door. Or go to Starbucks. Or out of bed to get a soda and edamame. Or know the time of the baseball game. See, all of these things are being done for me.
Anyways, I've been doing a lot of what I like to call relaxing. It's strange because this is probably the longest I have gone without seeing a child up close. Ser-i-silly. Even when I go to physical therapy you would think a child would be roaming around the medical campus... but no. So it's been at least 2 weeks since I saw a child. It's strange for me, and I certainly miss the kids. (awww. Don't throw up, it's not THAT touchy feely)
In my relaxed state I sit and watch stuff on tv like this extremely frightening show called, "I didn't know I was pregnant" and "emergency room nightmares" or something like that. I love documentaries, but the ones on during the day are strange... for example my dad and I watched this thing on the dust bowl. No, I have not watched any Lifetime movies... I brought my own dvds. Today I have a movie marathon. I watched the following- Pure Country, Stripes, Shopgirl, Gattaca, My Blueberry Nights, The Boondock Saints, and Empire Records. Yes, in that order. I recently caught up on season 5 of The Office which was actually a remedy to a certain situation that happened.
A friend of mine introduced me to this thing called Stumble.. you click a button and based on your interests it takes you to a webpage. Sounds harmless enough right? Wrong. Their whole thing is, "a way for you to get to know your internet" blah blah blah. Some of it is funny- like watching odd videos with animals, and learning about Irish-Jewish people (there was a page about random facts) but when I came to phobiaguide.com I got scared.
Okay, so A&E has a show called "Obsessed" and I do not watch it. My sister Lisa does and I refuse to because I feel that it will just give me ideas. It's all about people with OCD and it's certainly not something for me to sit and watch. (I know what you're thinking... but the "scary" shows on TLC are? YES.) Anyways, this phobia site just gives you the names of what people are afraid of. Some of them are funny, but some I can certainly relate to. Like there's one for people who fear being touched. That's me, but only strangers. Funny phobias include one where people are afraid of England and their culture, another where people fear Jewish people (?) people who fear trees, wind, and infinity. First of all, who the hell is afraid of a tree? They're beautiful. No, that's not an opinon- that's a fact.
The best one is where they give you the name for people who fear amphibians. It not only tells you the name (Batrachophobia) but also gives you an example of an amphibian (frog).
So being the emotional cutter that I am, I have bookmarked this site for future reference.
Check out the site, and see if you get any ideas of what to fear...
Pieces,
Kath
I guess there is no real logic to many phobias. Why are people afraid of spiders? My sister-in-law will run in terror from the tiniest spider that couldn't even bite through your skin if it wanted to. I once picked one up to prove it to her and she nearly cried!
