Here's some pictures from my parents that captured the early moments after surgery. You know, when I was on a lot of medication, falling asleep during a movie that I love, needing help just to get out of bed, my sister coming over late at night with goodies from Walgreens because she loves me so much.... the really good times:)
I just want you to notice how gross my knee looks (try not to throw up) because this was from the day that I was able to take off the ace bandage that was from my thigh to my ankle. And by me I of course mean my people:) Then, this last picture is my mom and my sister trying to figure out how to get the excess stitches to stay in the bandages that had to go on my knee so that I could shower. Oh, and did you notice that my knee was still swollen... so much that you can't even tell that I have a knee?! I mean, how cool is that? Oh, and notice in the background there's a super bowl thing on the wall... my mom tried to make her antique guest room more comfortable for me by putting up some sports stuff. Just so you know- that has autographed pictures of MVPs Joe Montana, Steve Young, and Jerry rice along with the superbowl tickets from each year. How cool is that? If I could have stolen that I would have!
It was great staying with my parents for the 3+ weeks. They joked that I had a bell... but honestly, after a couple days I didn't have to ask for things because they just knew what I needed! (Coffee brought to me, newspaper, ice packs, drinks with ice and a straw- notice the one in the picture- and anything else that they could think of to help me. Really great)
So a couple days ago, Lisa had said she was going to take the kids to Gilroy Gardens for the afternoon, and asked if my parents and I wanted to join them. They found out that they could rent me a wheelchair. I was not able to put weight on my surgical leg, and even if I could, imagine using crutches around a theme park. Wait- imagine ME using crutches around a theme park. You would need ear plugs because I would complain so much!
We had so much fun, the boys loved it, Katelynn helped push me around... it was great! So here's some pictures of all of that.
We all had so much fun. I had a really great time. It was my first outing besides going to run and errand with my parents or to the doctors! What better place for me to go than Gilroy Gardens.... they have so many trees!!
I still have a long way to go on my road to recovery, but I'm doing so much better, and my family has been amazing. I really can't thank them enough... everyone has been so great and so supportive and so patient with their little patient. Poor Precious (which is my nickname because I'm the baby. Christina came up with that one when I was born:) hehe) was definitey spoiled with love over the past few weeks. Ahhh....
Pieces,
Kath
